Windy Boats shortlisted for three major awards

Scandinavian boatbuilder, Windy Boats, has been shortlisted for three major awards at the 2011 Motor Boat of the Year Awards and European Powerboat of the Year Awards. The winners will be announced in January at the London International Boat Show and boot Düsseldorf respectively.

The Windy Dubois SR52 Blackbird – a stunning 16.10 metre Super Tender – was produced by Windy Boats and Hans Jørgen Johnsen in partnership with world-renowned yacht designer Ed Dubois. Launched to rave reviews at the Cannes International Boat Show last September, it has been nominated in the 'Performance and Superboats' category for the 2011 Motor Boat of the Year Awards, and the 'Yachts over 50 feet' category for the European Powerboat of the Year Awards.

The Windy 40 Maestro high performance family cruiser is the latest in the new generation of Scandinavian sports cruisers designed and conceived by Windy's multi-award winning design team. Also unveiled at Cannes it has been nominated in the 'Sportcruisers up to 45 feet' category for the 2011 Motor Boat of the Year Awards.

Commenting on the award nominations, Windy Boats' President and CEO Knut Heiberg-Andersen said: "We are delighted to be nominated for these three major awards, which recognise Windy's excellence across the boating spectrum – from distinctive performance boats to hardtop luxury cruisers. Windy has an international reputation for innovation and craftsmanship and these nominations affirm our position as one of the world's high-quality production boatbuilders."

With its sleek lines, rakish sheer and superb performance, the SR 52 Blackbird is guaranteed to turn heads as it delivers guests ashore in unprecedented style, speed and comfort. A unique and adaptable craft, it is also expected to appeal to customers looking for an elegant and uncompromising fast weekender or day boat. Powered by triple IPS 600 Volvo Penta diesel engines,
it boasts a top speed of 46 knots, and cruising speed of 40 knots.

The Windy 40 Maestro raises the bar for high performance, fuel efficient, all- eather family cruising, combining exceptional handling and seakeeping with luxurious and roomy accommodation. The expansive cockpit offers secure seating for six to eight, while the elevated helm position and two adjacent passenger seats enjoy superb visibility. Down below are two double cabins,
a light and spacious lounge, L-shaped galley and large heads and shower.

Both the SR 52 and Windy 40 Maestro are constructed using the latest technically advanced, environmentally sensitive, vacuum-injection technology. This provides greater strength as well as significant weight savings which, combined with Windy's advanced hull design, ensure class leading performance and outstanding fuel economy.

The Windy 40 Maestro can be seen on the Windy Boats stand (5/E20) at boot Düsseldorf (22-30 January 2011) alongside the Windy 28 Ghibli, 44 Chinook and a scale model of the SR 52 Blackbird.
